One Act Plays

How often have you sat in a society meeting and wished there were a way to bring the stories we love truly to life — to hear the voices of the characters we know so well, right there in the room?

Sherlockian Tom Campbell has written a collection of original one-act plays drawn directly from the world of Arthur Conan Doyle that does exactly that. Each play features three roles — an Interviewer, a Narrator, and a major character from one of the canonical stories — making them easy to perform on the spot with no rehearsal, no costumes, and no stage required. Members simply pick up the script and read. The format is designed specifically for in-person or ZOOM meetings: low preparation, high engagement, and about 10 minutes to perform. They are a wonderful excuse to revisit the stories we all love.

Imagine the energy in the room as a fellow member steps into the shoes of Irene Adler, Inspector Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson, Dr. Watson, or even Sherlock Holmes himself — answering questions, sharing their perspective, and bringing a familiar story to life in an entirely new way. These plays spark lively discussion, draw in quieter members, and give every meeting a memorable centerpiece.

SAMPLE PLAY SCRIPT
The most important ingredient to any meeting is member participation. Rather than sitting passively through a presentation, your members become part of the story itself. Three volunteers step into the roles of Narrator, Host, and character, and suddenly the meeting comes alive in a way that a lecture or a quiz simply cannot match. Sherlockians are passionate, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic — give them a chance to perform and they will relish every moment of it.

The best way to believe it is to experience it. Download a sample play, bring it to your next meeting, and discover firsthand just how much more engaging and productive your meeting can be!
